Why Names Matter

Did you know that humans have been giving each other names since as far back as 3200BC, a custom that originated in Sumeria and Egypt?

A name is an incredibly important part of our identity, carrying deep personal, cultural, familial and historical connections. A name gives us a sense of who were are, to whom we belong, the families to whom we are tied, and our place in the world.

So it seems only natural that we would want to celebrate the giving of a name to our children, but that does not always have to be tied to a faith ceremony. On the contrary, a naming ceremony gives you the opportunity to celebrate the arrival of your child, and the first important step you take in shaping their identity, in a way that suits you, whether it is an intimate occasion with close family and friends, or something more celebratory involving lots of guests and activities for the little ones who will no doubt be part of it.

When You Book A Ceremony With Me

You get a bespoke celebration that reflects the joy and happiness you are experiencing and the unconditional love you feel for your child.

It is often difficult for new parents to put into words how it feels to hold their own creation, this wondrous new life, this blend of each of them, and to express their love and lifelong commitment to him/her. Together, we can create a script that captures all of your feelings and emotions as you embark on the journey of parenthood, committed to loving, nurturing and caring for your child for the rest of your lives.

By listening to your story, I can create a magical ceremony that captures this most wondrous of life's journeys, from the discovery of conception through to the moment of birth and beyond.

I can help you to design the structure of the ceremony, advise on symbolic elements, as well as to formulate the promises you may want to make to your child as you gift him/her his identity, forever cementing the unbreakable bond between you.

Most of all, I can help you to create a wonderful memory that will be with your family, forever. I truly believe it's at times like these that words really do matter.
